Le Jacquard
This Still Life began as part of a 3 day Workshop I taught and painting a Still Life was a Subject for one of the 3 days.
Whenever I set to choose the objects for a Still Life, I immediately think of Color. That is my starting point for just about everything I paint. The next step in choosing what would go into it was what kind of
Fabric would I use for a Background? That wasn't difficult at all. I absolutely LOVE Jacquard and have collected a few pieces of it here and there. I don't have much of it because it is so precious of a price, but I have been lucky enough to find a few pieces to use, a couple of "napkins", a table runner and this this case, a tablecloth I found on sale!
As soon as I saw this piece with its fabulous colors, most of which are my favorites, I knew I had to have this to add to my "Still Life" fabrics. I knew I would have to paint this. I didn't know how, what, where or when, but I knew from the excitement I felt seeing this, it was going to be in a painting, or two or three. I purchased the flowers, gathered the honey pot from my kitchen, the Canister from my Display self and the Pitcher from the Still Life objects I had collected and went to work. This painting took me a while longer that what I had expected as my Creative Journey took a detour, but I knew that this was a painting that I had to complete and I am so happy that I did.
Yes, it is somewhat of a "Color" Explosion, but a beautiful explosion it is. If you love Color as I do, this piece is for you!
